Description

The Great Western Trail Story Continues!

El Paso at the end of the 19th century: five railroad companies have connected the Sun City to their network and made it a major hub for the cattle trade. Ranchers from the surrounding parts of Texas and Mexico drive their cattle into the city to send them on their long journey to the north, east, and west of the United States.

Take on the role of the ranchers of that time and bring your best cattle to El Paso to earn money and victory points. Hire more cowboys, builders, and engineers to get closer to your goals:

  • Buy cattle to increase the value of your herd!
  • Construct buildings to unlock more actions!
  • Participate in the expansion of the railroad and secure the most attractive contracts!
El Paso is mechanically based on its predecessors in the Great Western Trail trilogy. It can serve as an introduction to the series and is the perfect game for game nights when there is not enough time for its big brothers!

FAQ

More cattle for our gaming table! When will Great Western Trail: El Paso be on sale?

Great Western Trail: El Paso is scheduled for production in spring 2025 and shall be available in Europe in April.

Shipping to the USA and Asia will take a little longer - but Lookout will demo a preview copy at PAX unplugged this December: if you are attending, check in with our team on site!

Can I get rid of as many cattle cards as I want?

While those beautiful cows are really a feast for the eyes, sometimes you'll want to get rid of some of them to optimize your herd. While the rules certainly allow you to do this, one important change to the rules did not make it into the printed rulebook.
Each player may remove at most 5 cattle from their deck! Please refer to the appendix in the download section for more information details.

Building 2a seems too powerful. Do you have a solution for that one?

We have followed the discussions on this closely and consulted with the designers. For most of the players it does not seem to be a problem at all.

Experienced players are bothered by the fact that building 2a (placed accordingly) deflates the train action. Depending on your group of players, we therefore recommend choosing the reverse side (= building 2b) instead - or consider the two actions on 2a as either / or options.

*For more variance in the game, you have the option of mixing the buildings and using them with different sides (a or b).
